Power transmission is the transport of energy from its place of production to a place where it is applied to do useful work. Due to use of electrical systems in EDM machines, power transmission is usually associated with transmission of electricity. Alternating current is preferred to minimize loss of resistance in conductors used to transmit power across large distances.
POWER TRANSMISSION TYPES
Mechanic Power Transmission
Mechanical power can be transmitted directly using a solid structure, such as a drive shaft. Transmission gears can adjust torque of an electrical transformer or force velocity and voltage countercurrent.
Hydraulic Power Transmission
Hydraulic systems use fluid under pressure to deliver power. Channels and hydroelectric power plants benefit from natural water power to generate electricity. Pumping water or mass is a possible energy storage tool with an upward thrust.
Pneumatic Power Transmission
Pneumatic systems use gases under pressure to deliver power. Pressurized air is preferred for use of pneumatic tools in factories and repair garages.
Thermal Power Transmission
Thermal power can be used for physical transport of pipelines or material objects with a high heat capacity fluid such as oil or water used in district heating systems.
